Account monitoring · Methodology 2026-10-v2
What the numbers can tell you
We collect read-only, broker-reported account records. The figures describe the data available to us; they do not certify a trader, a broker, genuine market execution, or the quality of a course.
Imported history and observed records
On connection, we request the available history. MT4 exposes the history loaded in the terminal, so its All History selection matters. Older records remain labelled imported and unverified. Monitoring starts with our first successful account observation. A month crossing that point contains both periods.
Later collection establishes what the broker reported at that time. It is not independent proof of execution. Changes to historical records are retained for review; a correction alone is not evidence of manipulation. The earliest available record is not the account-opening date.
Monthly profit and return
Monthly net P&L includes recorded trading profit, commissions, swap, fees and classified separate costs or income. Deposits, withdrawals and broker credit are not trading profit. Unclassified adjustments or incomplete values make affected results unavailable.
Percentage results use an estimated cash-flow-adjusted return on the account’s realized balance, using Modified Dietz:
÷ (starting balance + time-weighted net deposits)
Withdrawals are negative deposits in this formula. Flows are weighted by how long their capital was in the period. Inception and current months are partial. A zero or negative capital base is not a meaningful percentage. This is an estimate, not an exact time-weighted equity return, and we make no GIPS compliance claim.
Realized profits can coexist with open losses. Always read open P&L and observed equity risk alongside monthly results.
Balance, growth and equity charts
Historical balance is reconstructed from a collected balance and the available monetary records. Its starting balance may be inferred because earlier records are missing. Deposits can make a balance chart rise without any trading profit. The percentage growth chart links supported monthly return estimates and restarts after an unsupported month rather than bridging it.
The balance chart follows the realized balance exactly, including its level just before and after each deposit, withdrawal or unclassified adjustment of at least 5%. Each is marked with its size relative to the balance before it, so a rise from new money is never mistaken for profit. When the owner shares capital, the chart and each movement show account-currency amounts. Otherwise, with the owner’s agreement, the chart shows only the balance’s shape; amounts are never sent to the website.
We do not manufacture historical equity from closed trades. The equity chart starts with actual observations collected by us. Percentage equity observations subtract broker credit and adjust for dated cash flows. Historic UTC conversions from terminal exports use a broker offset; past daylight-saving changes can affect records near month boundaries.
Drawdown is sampled
Observed drawdown is the largest peak-to-trough fall in the cash-flow-adjusted equity index built from collected snapshots. Each interval uses a Modified Dietz adjustment so a withdrawal is not automatically treated as a loss. Unsupported intervals start a new segment.
Hourly checks miss intrahour highs and lows. The actual drawdown can be larger.
Fewer than two usable observations produce no drawdown figure. Sampling gaps and balance reconciliation problems are shown explicitly. A 0% observed drawdown only means no fall appeared in the usable samples.
Trade counts and activity
MT4 counts closed order tickets; partial closes may be separate tickets. MT5 execution records are reconstructed into completed position episodes, including partial exits and reversals. Missing opening legs or unsupported sequences are excluded from trade statistics and disclosed.
- Win rate uses completed-trade net outcomes after allocated costs. Flat trades stay in the denominator.
- Gross profit and gross loss use price P&L before costs; net closed-trade P&L includes allocated costs.
- Profit factor uses positive net trade outcomes divided by absolute negative net outcomes. No losses means unavailable, not infinity.
- Average trades per week uses all elapsed calendar time in the available period, including inactive weeks.
- MT5 holding duration weights each closed volume by its time held. The account average is then the mean of completed-trade durations.
- Open-entry commissions and separate account costs can make monthly P&L differ from completed-trade P&L.
- Broker entries without a market price, such as month-end income postings, stay in monthly results but are not counted as trades.
- Average win ÷ average loss uses net trade outcomes. A value below 1 means the typical loss is larger than the typical win.
Privacy and student accounts
Owners choose percentages only or everything in account-currency amounts, and whether to list closed trades. Either way the balance chart is shown: its shape only, or with amounts. Percentage-only output contains no monetary values or position sizes. Profiles show the broker’s name, the company the account reports, its leverage and each market’s share of completed trades. Credentials, account numbers, broker server identifiers and private contacts are never public. Public money statistics can still allow people to infer aspects of account size.
Student relationships may be self-reported. Volunteered student accounts can be selective and do not establish a course’s success rate. Each account is shown separately; we do not average them into a trader score. Publication requests and preference changes are reviewed manually. Request changes using the same private contact you supplied when submitting.
